- MKTBETopeka, Kansas3,046 contributionsInteresting City Center! We found Old Town Bucharest to be interesting, but other than lots of restaurants, many lovely Romanian Orthodox Churches, and some great architecture we found very little to do after we had wandered around a few times. The most fun activity that we discovered in Old Town was a free scavenger hunt that we found online. It helped us to uncover some interesting things we had missed, including: The She Wolf Statue, the Kilometer Zero Monument, Carousel Book Shop, the Cross remaining after the original St. Anthony's Church was destroyed, and a few other interesting finds! It was super fun, and it took us about 2 hours to completeVisited February 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten March 8, 2023
- AnaPiussiLondon, United Kingdom1,015 contributionsThe best thing to do in town - walk aroundThe old neighbourhood it is an area relatively easy to walk around. Most of the main attractions in Bucharest are locates here. There are many bars and restaurants as well to enjoy. Ideally keep walking and follow the maps in the roads to cover it. Old church, old monastery, oldest beer garden. The old inns, the passage. Etc etcVisited July 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten July 16, 2023
- Leonard K CollinsOttawa, Canada17 contributionsWhat a Great Area of BucharestThis is a beautiful area of Bucharest, the oldest part of the city, with cafes all over, nightime activity is great with the people coming out nightly for coffee or have a beer or food with friends. A good aspect of it, this is not accessible to cars, its a small cobblestone, area full of life, and no pollution shall we say. A must go to place for a good time and a happy time :)Visited June 2023Written August 17, 2023
- Vixyc88Sunderland, United Kingdom1,177 contributionsBucharest Old TownI have visited Bucharest twice for 2 weeks over 2 months this year thanks to a work trip. It was never somewhere I new a lot about prior to these trips but I would say it is certainly under rated. It has a fantastic night life with all different bars, restaurants, an array of cuisines, roof top views, ice cream and dessert stands, street music and best of all caters to all budgets. I could wander round all day looking at the little streets, scattered shops, stunning churches (must see is the russian church a short walk from the main centre). I covered a lot of the town in one day, you can go in a lot of the churches for free, there is a football museum for those who like sport, would recommend that and a reasonable price too. There is a canal area, shopping mall. There is a fountain show on certain times of the year I believe until around September, 9pm on an evening for 45 minutes it is free and up there with some of the best fountain shows I have seen - fantastic, it gets packed and the atmosphere is great. Give luca a go for lovely cheap pastries etc you will see them as you walk around. It is easy to get around and I always spot something new. I love the vibrancy of old town!Visited July 2023Written August 22, 2023
- E.M.JGermany10 contributionsNice area with good places for breakfast, lunch and dinner!Very nice area in Bucharest with a lot of people on the streets and also in restaurants. The best places are the places where no one tries forcefully invite you inside . You will find nice places for dinner with very good food, excepting places with junk food . May be is good to make a reservation. The terraces in old town are amazing, except those with very loud and bad music!Visited August 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten August 31, 2023
- LAW64Tonbridge, United Kingdom1,693 contributionsPleasant walkIt is lovely to walk around the historic centre of Bucharest. There are clear maps on the outskirts which tell you about the history (in English too). There are some beautiful large historic buildings and some nice cafes as well as the lovely bookshop.Visited September 2023Traveled with familyWritten September 9, 2023
- Barbs25Staffordshire, United Kingdom2,592 contributionsLoved the rustic charmDefinitely my favourite part of the city. It’s got a lot of character and while some buildings need a little TLC I think it adds to the charm. Lots of amazing buildings and different churches. It’s a real mish mash of styles but I liked that. Different to most European cities. Lots of great bars and restaurants too.Visited September 2023Traveled with friendsWritten October 1, 2023

Take a stroll in the old city of Bucharest (Victoriei avenue, Dacia bulevard) and discover the old French style architecture of Bucharest (called between the 2 WW the "little Paris"). Enjoy a coffee in a nice place (e.g. Capsa restaurant and coffee shop or at Victoriei galleries) and then have a traditional lunch and a home-made beer at Caru cu Bere. Enjoy the evening (or the whole night....) into one of the numerous pubs and clubs in the old historical centre, a pedestrian area where you can find lots of options.

Most of the tourists come to the old town for the dozens of clubs, bars and restaurants. But there are also a number of old buildings, with beautiful architecture. Unfortunately, most of the buildings, including many of the above-mentioned clubs, are not well maintained at all of them present a high seismic risk. But who gives a f...penny, let's have some fun...

The old town of Bucharest is easily explored on foot, covering a relatively small area. Seems to be dominated now by a lot of small pubs, cafes, restaurants and bars. But also in the area are a number of quite attractive buildings which have been carefully restored to their historical appearance. Worth the effort of visiting when you're in Bucharest.

Some amazing and impressive architecture. It is a hallmark of the show of strength and power expected from communist countries. The old town however has buildings that show real influence from the former French occupation.

Visited in September 2020, wonderful to walk around, look at the architecture & soak up the atmosphere.
We were required to wear face masks on the Friday evening around town, but not mandatory at other times. Victoria Pasajul is a little gem. In the evening lots of restaurants hawking for business but all pretty friendly if not interested. Would recommend!

Was here for a documentary shoot and then we got dinner after and did some shopping. It's a beautiful, old area with many restaurants and shops, plus a couple of old churches. The architecture is beautiful. I forget the name of the restaurant we went to, but it was great- food was delicious and there was live dancing and music! The Cărturești Carusel bookshop was gorgeous! Definitely go see!

Bucharest old town is a magic place. Full of positive energies. Each time I go there it seems I'm recharging my batteries. A lot of nice restaurants and pubs, a lot of building just restored and old ones to be seen and visited. You can find also new stores, libraries and a lot of things to see. Everything in a little number of square kilometers.

Hi, I was in Romania a month ago and traveled extensively. Contrary to what has been posted here, you can do Bus trips from Bucharest to Bran. Most tours will take you to both Peles and Bran Castle. You should be able to book a tour from your hotel or, hostel or, other accommodation. I however, decided to travel to Brasov by train and, then took a bus onto Bran. Brasov is well worth visit with plenty to see. Bran offers a lot more than just the castle, as well, especially if you want to hike. Between Brasov and Bran is Rasnov, a fortress town that is worth the visit....again, with plenty of good mountain walking. These are beautiful areas of the country and interesting historically.
