What travelers are saying
- RonL40Utica, NY3,545 contributionsThe collection is superb, especially if you are interested in the work of the Dutch Golden Age... great pieces by Hals, Steen, Metsys, Membling, Bosch, Rubens, Van Dyck and many more. There is a wonderful group of paintings by Roger van der Weyden -- rare for a museum to have more than one and here there are a half dozen. The equally large group of pieces by Brueghel are a revelation... the museum has made an effort to education, as you'll see in the media used to interpret / enlarge both the Brueghel and the Hals works. Plus there is a marvelous group of Magritte works in the same building. This is a museum that must be seen. AND beyond the works, the staff are the most helpful people we've ever encountered in a museum. Truly friendly people who answered all our questions and assisted us in every way we asked. Equalled by the ease through which you can maneuver through the building. Superb signage, very easy to navigate. Altogether, one of the best experiences we've ever had in the hundreds of art museums we've visited. Highest recommendation possible.Written November 28, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Yaron EHadera, Israel235 contributionsVery nice collection of contemporary art and the visit to Rene Magritte's house was very interesting. This should be coupled with the Museum of Fine Art which has a huge collection of his worksWritten October 22, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Yaron EHadera, Israel235 contributionsThe collection is am amazing.
So many sides of the artist we did not know, his works on films and the expressionistic period.
The only down side was the lighting, spot lights on the paintings give a glare which in many cases prevents from having a full view of the paintingWritten October 22, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. It was a really good experience for me discovering sculptures in the garden and entering the maze modelled on the mythological Daedalus.
Similarly, each room inside the house has been beautifully decorated with warm colours and fine art; it was a pleasure to discover more about the significance of David and Alice van Buuren in Uccle, Brussels.Written October 26, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Fiona LShrewsbury, UK101 contributionsWe were not familiar with the work of this artist until we found the museum on the website of the Fine Arts Museums of Brussels. He was a wonderful sculptor of everyday, working men, full of dynamism and energy, and this was one of our favourite places in Brussels. The entrance is very unassuming (the front door to his house) and you have to ring the bell to be let in but there are lots of his sculptures from small to larger than lifesize. No cafe but there is a toiletWritten April 29, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- VirginiaGalArlington, VA121 contributionsWent to the Magritte, the Fin de Siecle, and the Ukrainian Eye of the Storm exhibits. The Magritte exhibit is well curated. The Fin de Siecle is in underground space and noticeably not lit enough. I’ve never been in a darker museum space, and I thought it was odd. The Ukrainian exhibit is worthwhile; it has interesting historical information and includes some art from the famous Boychuk.
Museum has a large gift shop with a wide variety of postcards, books and gift items.Written December 7, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews. - Bianca WLondon, UK1,088 contributions
Beautiful collection of interesting pieces over three floors. They also have a roof terrace (though the view isn't that great) and a café.

Maison Cauchie is a designer house close to the boring EU neighborhood. In contrast to the slob of glass and steel nearby, this small house at least adds some character to the Belgian capital.Written June 14, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Sophie S12 contributionsWe had a day in Brussels and decided to go to the atomium and mini europe- both great by the way- and noticed that with are tickets we got free entry to the design museum. It was two relatively big rooms with funky chairs. It was quite interesting but we where done in 10 minutes (especially as not much of it is in English) so glad we got it free. Definitely don't pay €10 for it!Written April 13, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.

- CD1510 contributionsThe temporary exhibits seemed nice although i did not pay the extra 3€ to enter. Otherwise all the other pieces were aesthetically presented and had good visuals to them, the only disappointing part of the museum was that a lot of the pieces were taken down for “scientific examination” or “on loan” although this was unfortunate it was still a very impressive museum and i spent 4 hours thereWritten July 10, 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
