- This small sloping park is located between the Marolles and Saint Gilles. It is divided into two parts by the sole surviving city gate of Brussels, the Halle Gate. A few canons remind of the military past of the area. An intriguing work of art is a menhir-like sculpture in pink granite from Brittany by Spanish sculptor Manolo Paz. It’s entitled ‘Pilgrim’ (1999) and refers to the pilgrim route to St Jacques de Compostela (Spain), which passed through Brussels. The park has been completely refurbished some years ago and surveillance has been improved. During the day it’s a pleasant enough place for a picnic on the lawns or on one of the benches. There is an enclosed playground in the form of a medieval castle. The park offers splendid views on the Halle Gate. However, we avoid it after dark. It attracts a marginal population of people with alcohol or drugs problems and, especially in summer, homeless people sleeping rough.Written April 17, 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - The ‘Skate parc des Ursulines or ‘Ursu’ for short (Ursulines Skatepark) is a small outdoor concrete skatepark, smack in the centre of Brussels. It is set against the backdrop of the beautiful church of Notre-Dame de la Chapelle to one side and the large red-brick neo-traditional ‘Résidence des Ursulines' (1895 – 1903), now housing an old people's home, to the other side.
The Ursulines Skatepark also attracts non-skaters enjoying a chat and a drink on the high wooden steps leading up to the metal fence overlooking the railway tracks. We loved watching skaters in the small and rather steep colourful bowl from up there. When we visited, around 6 p.m. on a sunny weekday, the atmosphere seemed relaxed and friendly. Access is free and the place is illuminated at night.Written September 20, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Nice, well-kept laser game facility. Staff was super-friendly while explaining the different games and following up on drink orders. Much fun with the colleagues.Written October 25, 2023
