Nice to see the buildings of the different guilds. All the famous chocolatiers outlets are present here. Nice to spend an hour here strolling and taking in the sights. After all the ornate churches and basilicas in Italy, the interiors felt comparatively austere to us. Take some photos, although that might be hard to do as there are so many tourists around. You will find them throughout the the old lower town but especially on the Grand Place. They are very decorative and from another era. I took a lot of photos. If you like beautiful plants, a park where you can just walk in good weather, admire the roses and landscape - this is the place for you. It is one of the largest churches in the world and can be seen from the end of Parc Elisabeth. Given its sheer size, the basilica has a surprisingly simple, almost austere interior. It is out of tourist area and thus remains serene and peaceful.
